NURSERY TALK

Real Stories from Real Parents

Kelley’s Story

story

First-time mom Kelley Furst has fond memories of her pregnancy and delivery.

“It was textbook perfect,” said Kelley. “My water broke at 2 a.m. and by 5:42 a.m., Gabrielle was here.”

The postpartum period was pretty rosy as well. Gabrielle was a good breast-feeder and began sleeping through the night at eight weeks. The first little bump came when Kelley went back to work full time when Gabrielle was three months old.

“My plan was to exclusively breast-feed for one year, but as soon as I went back to work, my milk supply decreased,” Kelley recalled. By five months, Kelley’s supply had diminished enough that she had to pump and supplement with formula.

“When I knew I had to mix formula, I didn’t want to use tap water because I wasn’t sure about the quality,” Kelley said. After doing some research, Kelley decided to try Nursery® water and has been pleased. “I’ve seen other store brands, but I haven’t bought them.”

In addition to mixing formula, Kelley uses Nursery water to mix Gabrielle’s rice cereal and oatmeal.

Because Kelley is teaching Gabrielle how to use a cup and to reach for water to quench her thirst, she fills a sippy cup with a little Nursery water. “My husband and I are big water drinkers. We drink a lot of bottled water. We want Gabrielle to learn to drink water when she’s thirsty.”

Kelley is one of the first in her circle of friends to have a baby. For her friends who are pregnant and planning to formula-feed right from the start, she encourages them to consider Nursery water. “It’s easy to use and I feel confident about the brand. It’s one less thing to worry about,” Kelley said.

The ease of using Nursery water gives Kelley more time to play with her adorable, very active daughter who loves to cuddle and sample new foods.

And did we mention that Gabrielle has been sleeping through the night since she was eight weeks old?! Talk about the perfect child!

Alexandria's Story

story

Meet nine-month-old Jarius – affectionately known as Junior. This adorable little guy is the newest addition to the family from Mississippi.

Jarius’s mom, Alexandria, has been a loyal Nursery® water customer since the birth of her first child seven years ago.

Alexandria says she tried to breast-feed her firstborn but became sore and was concerned she didn’t have enough milk.

To ease her mind, she decided to formula-feed her baby. Alexandria knew it was important to mix formula with clean, pure water and wanted only the best for her newborn.

As a young mom, Alexandria says she knew little about which water to use. It was the picture of a healthy baby on the jug of Nursery water that caught Alexandria’s eye. After she read the label, she decided to try the brand. She was so happy with the quality that she never questioned her choice.

With each new infant, breast-feeding became easier, but when it came time to wean, Alexandria continued her tradition of mixing formula with Nursery water.

Alexandria is currently using Nursery to mix Jarius’ formula and baby cereal, and she offers the water to him straight from the jug in a cup.

Jarius has three older sisters – ages one, four and seven.

Alexandria says her older daughters love taking care of their little brother, who is always on the go – cruising around furniture, saying “mama” and “dada” and, when music plays, dancing for his audience. We hope Jarius and his sisters always stay this happy!

Rebekah's Story

story

Sometimes in life, you get what you wish for – and more. Rebekah and her husband were in the process of adopting their first child, when Rebekah found out she was pregnant. Six months after adopting their son Landry, Eva was born. A year later, little brother Hudson joined the crew.

Because she adopted her first child, Rebekah says she planned on using formula right from the start. What she didn’t plan on were the stomach issues Landry suffered during his infancy. On recommendation from her pediatrician – and because she was concerned about the quality of her tap water – Rebekah began mixing formula with Nursery® water. “With all the stomach issues Landry was having, I didn’t want to add any more impurities to his little belly,” recalls Rebekah.

After doing some research, Rebekah remembers going to the store and finding Nursery water in the baby aisle. “When I saw the label, it was appealing and just felt right,” says Rebekah. Landry’s stomach issues finally vanished at about three months.

Three months later, Eva was born and Rebekah breast-fed for several weeks. However, Rebekah says her daughter suffered from terrible colic. And, Rebekah was concerned about her milk supply. Once again, Rebekah turned to her pediatrician who recommended pumping and supplementing with formula, which Rebekah mixed with Nursery water.

Soon after, Eva began to thrive.

“I remember the sleepless nights and just worrying whether they were getting what they needed,” says Rebekah. “With formula, I could see what they were getting and when Nursery was introduced, their stomachs calmed down and things just smoothed out.”

Rebekah says knowing Nursery water is purified and portable gave her peace of mind, and it became easy to always have clean, fresh water on hand, even when traveling.

Rebekah jokes that since she had two newborns at the same time – and shortly after added a third – her friends look to her as “all things Mom.” And, she says because she had such a positive experience with Nursery water, she now recommends the baby water to other Moms for mixing with formula, rice cereal and for use in sippy cups when babies are old enough for plain water.
